Driving While Drunk
What did you think would happen?
A man is arrested on the suspicion of driving while drunk.
Witnesses put him at the bar.
The barkeeper confirmed the number of drinks he consumed.
Impaired he got behind the wheel of his truck attempting to drive home.
In the process, he caused two accidents injuring other parties and caused damage to property of others in the tens of thousands.
He awoke from his stupor when law enforcement removed him from his vehicle and arrested him.
He was taken to the hospital due to a head injury from colliding with a minivan. He was treated and released to police custody.
He meets with his public defender.
The attorney asked him after going over the facts of his case if he had anything to add.
“Thank God I am alive. He in his sovereignty preserved my life. I’m so grateful to God.”
The attorney said, “There are people severely injured and families ripped apart as a result of your choices.
You chose to drink, get behind the wheel, and harm others.
You are responsible for the choices you’ve made!
There are consequences for others with which they have to live (or die).
What do you have to say to that?”
“God is in control,” he quips.
The attorney replied, “But YOU are responsible.”
